How IELTS Band Score is Calculated
IELTS overall band score চারটি সেকশনের গড় (average) হিসেবে হিসাব করা হয়। প্রতিটি সেকশন ০ থেকে ৯ ব্যান্ড স্কেলে স্কোর পায়। চারটি সেকশনের স্কোর যোগ করে ৪ দিয়ে ভাগ করলে raw average পাওয়া যায়। এরপর IELTS এর বিশেষ rounding rules প্রয়োগ করে final overall band score নির্ধারণ করা হয়।
Overall Band Score = (Listening + Reading + Writing + Speaking) ÷ 4উদাহরণস্বরূপ: Listening 8.0, Reading 7.5, Writing 7.0, Speaking 7.5 হলে গড় হবে (8.0 + 7.5 + 7.0 + 7.5) ÷ 4 = 30 ÷ 4 = 7.5। সুতরাং overall IELTS band score হবে 7.5।
IELTS Rounding Rules Explained
IELTS এর rounding system সাধারণ গাণিতিক rounding থেকে কিছুটা ভিন্ন। চারটি সেকশনের গড় করার পর দশমিকের অংশটি নির্দিষ্ট নিয়মে round করা হয়:
- গড় .25 এ শেষ হলে: পরবর্তী .5 ব্যান্ডে round up হয়। যেমন: 6.25 → 6.5
- গড় .75 এ শেষ হলে: পরবর্তী পূর্ণ ব্যান্ডে round up হয়। যেমন: 6.75 → 7.0
- গড় .0 বা .5 এ থাকলে: কোনো পরিবর্তন হয় না। যেমন: 6.0 → 6.0, 6.5 → 6.5
- গড় .125 এ: নিচের .0 বা .5 এ round down হয়। যেমন: 5.125 → 5.0
- গড় .375 এ: .5 এ round up হয়। যেমন: 5.375 → 5.5
- গড় .625 এ: .5 এ round down হয়। যেমন: 5.625 → 5.5
- গড় .875 এ: পরবর্তী পূর্ণ ব্যান্ডে round up হয়। যেমন: 5.875 → 6.0

IELTS ব্যান্ড স্কোর ০ থেকে ৯ পর্যন্ত স্কেলে পরিমাপ করা হয়। প্রতিটি ব্যান্ড একটি নির্দিষ্ট ইংরেজি দক্ষতার স্তর নির্দেশ করে:

IELTS Overall Band Score Calculation Example
নিচে কয়েকটি বাস্তব উদাহরণ দিয়ে IELTS overall band score কীভাবে হিসাব হয় তা দেখানো হলো:
Example 1: Band 7.5
Listening: 8.0, Reading: 7.5, Writing: 7.0, Speaking: 7.5
Total: 8.0 + 7.5 + 7.0 + 7.5 = 30.0
Average: 30.0 ÷ 4 = 7.500

IELTS Listening Score Calculator
IELTS Listening সেকশনে ৪০টি প্রশ্ন থাকে এবং প্রতিটি সঠিক উত্তরের জন্য ১ নম্বর পাওয়া যায়। মোট সঠিক উত্তরের সংখ্যা (raw score) একটি নির্দিষ্ট conversion table ব্যবহার করে band score এ রূপান্তরিত হয়। এই conversion একই Academic ও General Training উভয় পরীক্ষার জন্য প্রযোজ্য।

IELTS Reading Score Calculator

Academic Reading এ সাধারণত Band 7.0 পেতে 30-32 সঠিক উত্তর প্রয়োজন, যেখানে General Training Reading এ Band 7.0 পেতে 34-35 সঠিক উত্তর লাগে। এটি কারণ General Training reading passages তুলনামূলক সহজ হয়, তাই conversion table কঠোরতর।
বাংলাদেশের বেশিরভাগ IELTS পরীক্ষার্থী Academic module এ অংশ নেন উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য, তবে যারা UK, Australia, Canada বা New Zealand এ immigration এর জন্য IELTS দেন তারা সাধারণত General Training module নেন।
IELTS Writing and Speaking Scores
IELTS Writing এবং Speaking সেকশনে raw marks বা সঠিক উত্তরের সংখ্যা নেই। এই দুটি সেকশন trained IELTS examiners দ্বারা সরাসরি band score (0-9) এ মূল্যায়ন করা হয়।
Writing Assessment Criteria: Task Achievement/Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, এবং Grammatical Range and Accuracy। প্রতিটি criterion সমান গুরুত্ব পায় এবং চারটির গড় থেকে writing band score নির্ধারিত হয়।
Speaking Assessment Criteria: Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, এবং Pronunciation। Speaking পরীক্ষা face-to-face interview ফরম্যাটে হয় এবং চারটি criteria এর গড় থেকে speaking band score পাওয়া যায়।
Writing এবং Speaking হলো বেশিরভাগ বাংলাদেশি পরীক্ষার্থীদের জন্য সবচেয়ে চ্যালেঞ্জিং সেকশন। অনেক পরীক্ষার্থী Listening ও Reading এ ভালো করলেও Writing এ 6.0-6.5 এর বেশি উঠতে পারেন না, যা overall band score কমিয়ে দেয়।

How to Improve IELTS Band Score
